National College of Advocacy

Paul J. Scoptur Scholarship

The National College of Advocacy (NCA) honors the memory of Paul J. Scoptur by awarding complimentary registration and partial travel costs to members who otherwise could not attend AAJ Education Trial Advocacy Colleges.

In Memory of Paul J. Scoptur

Paul J Scoptur

Paul was a long-time AAJ member, former National College of Advocacy (NCA) Board of Trustees member and co-chair, and AAJ Education stalwart who passed away unexpectedly in 2018, creating a void and great loss to those who knew him and the AAJ community. Paul represented plaintiffs exclusively in personal injury cases for more than 40 years in motor vehicle collision, medical malpractice, nursing home, and products liability cases, and more. He was a sought-after trial consultant and co-author of several books.

Paul was an exceptional friend and leader of AAJ Education and the NCA. He volunteered thousands of hours planning programs and teaching AAJ and state trial lawyer association members nationwide. Paul was a staunch advocate of AAJ’s trial advocacy colleges, and he served as one of the lead planners for AAJ’s popular deposition colleges.

In memory of Paul, the NCA established the Paul J. Scoptur Trial Advocacy College Scholarship in 2019 to assist lawyers who would not be able to attend a trial advocacy college.
