Toxic drinking water

October/November 2024

Christopher Brian Wren and Emely Wren and their minor son, Christopher Noah Wren, suffered serious liver damage after consuming Real Water bottled alkaline drinking water.

The Wrens, four other minor children with acute liver failure, and five parents who either suffered acute liver injuries or mental anguish related to their child’s injuries sued AffinityLifestyles.com, Inc., dba Real Water, alleging claims for strict liability failure to warn; breach of warranty; negligence per se; and negligence. The plaintiffs asserted that Real Water, which allegedly was marketed as “the healthiest drinking water available today,” contained elevated levels of toxins resulting from inherently flawed manufacturing errors, as well as equipment defects and failures.

The jury awarded approximately $3.09 billion, including $3 billion in punitive damages.
